Conversion to Ford Type 9 Gearbox
The gearbox conversion from Rover to Ford Type 9 was achieved by using the Getrag bell housing and hydraulic slave cylinder, this was then bolted to 1 steel and 1 alloy intermediate plates. The Type 9 front guide sleeve was shortened to miss the Hydraulic slave cyl.
The clutch is the standard Rover duel mass assembly with the exception of the drive plate which is a Ford 2.0ltr Duratec item.
It was necessary to use the Getrag housing because the CPS on the 1.8 Turbo is a hall effect type rather than than the inductive type that the 1.4 /1.6 engine uses, It is also in a different position relative to the flywheel. The rear gearbox mounting is a Caterham heavey duty type and I have used a gearlever extension assembly which moves the stick rearwards approx 5".
